Holy Relationship Card Deck
How to play
We are so excited for you to try out the Holy Relationship card deck!
There are many different ways to use this card deck. First of all it is good to know that whether you have the dating edition or the couples edition, each card deck is divided by 3 different levels, indicated by the amount of hearts at the bottom of each card.
Our intention for the cards is that you:
Start with a level one question (blindly picked or consciously chosen) to connect with each other and break the ice.
Stay at level one if you feel to keep the conversation light and playful, or move up to level two or three whenever you feel ready to go deeper.
We want to encourage you to find whatever works best for you when using these cards, but if you would like some inspiration, here are some different ways we’ve used them and how we’ve heard other people have used them as well:
Ask each other one questions of each level starting at level one.
Blindly pick one card each day for 60 days in a row.
Go through the cards and pick whichever question calls out to you.
Divide the three levels in three different stacks of 20 cards and blindly choose a card from whichever level you want to get into.
Shuffle the card deck, hold it in front of your heart, set an intention for the kind of conversation you want to have (for example; “allow for this question to bring us closer together”, or, “allow for this question to help us feel more heard/seen/connected” or, “give us a question that will help us release whatever is no longer serving us), and then intuitively pick a card.
Something to keep in mind: If you’re not feeling fully connected to each other, we always recommend starting off with a level one question to break the ice and reconnect before diving into a level two or level three question.
Creating a safe space
In order to make the best use out of these cards, it is so important you both practice creating a safe space for each other’s expression. Here are some tips on how to do that:
Be fully present. Don’t be on your phone, or thinking about what you are going to say once your partner is finished talking.
Don’t interrupt your partner when they are expressing.
Practice being open, curious, and non-judgmental to whatever your partner is expressing.
Don’t offer any unsolicited advice or try to fix when a question stirs up emotions. Welcome whatever wants to come up.
If you feel yourself getting triggered by a question or an answer, practice staying curious about that and welcome whatever wants to be seen and released underneath that trigger.
